ARE YOU READY FOR THE CHALLENGE!

Malaysian budding entrepreneurs are in for a real challenge at the forthcoming 51st Merdeka Celebrations.

In conjunction with the Merdeka Celebrations and its 5th anniversary, KL Monorail and branding strategist, Brandbuilding.com.my have come together to organize the first ever MALAYSIAN ENTREPRENEUR CHALLENGE (MEC).

The MEC is an exciting high profile marketing event whereby 11 business-savvy marketing teams drawn from undergraduates and student  from top notch business colleges and universities battle for honours to become the 1st Malaysian Entrepreneur Challenge winner.

Total prizes worth more than RM 100,000.00 of fabulous products including exciting “head-hunting” opportunities, mind-transformation seminars and life-changing courses and lucky draws from sponsors are up for grabs. The winning team will receive a Challenge Trophy plus prizes in kind worth a total of RM30,000. The 1st and 2nd runners-up will also receive prizes in kind worth RM15,000 and RM10,000 respectively.

The battleground - is at KL Monorail’s 11 stations that are strategically located across KL’s busiest and most happening region, the Golden Triangle area.

The target market – is the more than 66,000 commuters who use the Monorail daily to get to work, to shop and eat in the central business and shopping district of Kuala Lumpur.

The task – each team of 5 members will market a range of products at an assigned monorail station for three days. Their assignment is to outsell, outwit and outdo the other teams to bring in the highest amount of sales, in terms of profit margin that will be donated to charity.

This unique event aims to test the marketing skills of students in a real-life marketing situation and help them to plan and “think out of the box” in their business strategy to promote the products assigned to them.

All participants will be entitled to attend an exclusive  3-day E-Commerce workshop worth a total of RM1,300 per person. This seminar is managed well-known E-Commerce specialist Kenneth Tai, who is popularly known as Dr E-Commerce in IT business circles.

KL MONORAIL

The KL Monorail opened 31 August 2003 and serves 11 stations running 8.6 km with two parallel elevated tracks. It connects the Kuala Lumpur Sentral transport hub to the Golden Triangle, providing a convenient form of transportation serving the major hotels and shopping complexes within its route.

Currently, more than 60,000 commuters travel daily using this mode of transportation throughout its 11 stations bypassing or escaping the acute city traffic jam and parking space shortage and caters mostly to the younger to middle age-group. Generally, they range from the primary, secondary to college students, and mostly the working class adult group with a tourist appeal in the tourism industry.

On November 29, 2007, Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (SPNB) signed a sale and purchase agreement with KL Monorail Systems Sdn Bhd, which has made SPNB, the current operator of RapidKL, the new operator of KL Monorail.
